Slate-ish Adhesive Installation Rail Tool
Slate-ish can be installed on any dry, interior wall. You don’t need anything special - just install over painted sheetrock! So much easier than heavy natural stone.
Slate-ish is made to order. Our lead time is usually 4-8 days, plus transit. SOOT can have an extended lead time of up to 4 weeks.
Installation Quick Tips for Loose Tile
1. Clean, Flat Wall Surface. Your substrate can be painted sheetrock / drywall, or wood, such as OSB, Plywood, or Hardboard. To disguise small gaps between tiles, you can paint your substrate with a dark color before installing Slate-ish. Be sure to give it time to dry before you install the tile!
2. For most projects, use Clear 100% Silicone Adhesive. More info on adhesive HERE
3. Start at the bottom and work your way up - using painters tape to hold tiles in place until dry if necessary. Use one thick tile for every 4 to 5 thinner tiles. If you have more than one case, mix tiles from multiple cases. Draw level lines every foot or two up the wall to help make sure your installation is straight and even. If it’s not, make small adjustments as you go up to your next line. This is where painter’s tape can come in handy.
4. Cut with a miter saw - carbide tipped blades work best. You can always use our no-cut method too!
5. If your adhesive squeezes out between tiles - let it dry and cut away later, or use a utility knife blade. Be sure not to smear adhesive on the surface of the tile. Keep a paper towel handy to wipe your hands when necessary during installation!
6. Using our Adhesive Installation Rail can make the application of adhesive easier, and is returnable for a partial refund!

Best and easiest home improvement project I ever did ! Great product and great customer service

It was so easy. And I did the no cut method so the only tool I used to put this up was a caulk gun (which I had never used before) lol. It was actually FUN figuring out how to arrange the pieces. By the second row I felt like I knew exactly what I was doing. And def follow the instructions and work bottom to top. I would do it in more areas if I could find other places to use it!
