Always stay curious.
Hi Everyone,
Slate-ish started almost by accident, leading to a decade-long journey in manufacturing. Now, a different accident is marking the beginning of a new chapter for us.
While we may appear larger, we are a small team of two. Whether being married helps or hurts our business is up for debate, depending on who you ask and when!
As many of you know, Josh was struck by a truck while riding his bicycle in September 2025. We are incredibly thankful he escaped serious brain or spinal injuries, but he still faces a very long road to recovery. Jen has done an amazing job keeping the company running solo during this time, with special thanks to Brian and Dano for stepping in to help with production.
Slate-ish has always been a core part of what we do; it was our first product and has sustained us while we explored new ideas. However, after reflecting on the past few months, we have made the difficult decision to transition away from the business. To ensure our next endeavor succeeds, we must dedicate our full energy to it.
We are now exploring options for Slate-ish to become part of someone else's story. This represents an amazing opportunity to continue manufacturing a proven, American-made product. Whether you are a team of two dreaming of working for yourselves or an established manufacturer looking to expand your product range, Slate-ish may be the right fit.
To all of our customers: thank you for your support. We truly could not have done it without you. While we aren’t going anywhere just yet, if you have been thinking about placing an order, we encourage you to do so soon.
Please feel free to share this with anyone who may be interested. If you would like to learn more, please email Josh with a brief introduction. We aren't in a hurry, but we are prepared to move quickly when we find the right fit.
Best regards,
Josh & Jen
